Dr Winile Patricia Makhaye
MBChB, FCORL (SA)
Dr Winile Makhaye is an Otolaryngologist currently practising at Melomed Mitchells Plain. In 2008, she completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBChB) at the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, followed by a two-year internship at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital. In January of 2011, she began her community service at Themba Hospital in Mpumalanga, where she was the Junior Medical Officer. During the year of her community service, she completed a Basic Surgical Skills course and an Advanced Trauma Life Support course.
In January of 2012, Dr Makhaye began working at King Edward VIII Hospital where she worked as the ENT Registrar. In 2018, Dr Makhaye completed her Fellowship of the College of Otorhinolaryngology FCORL (SA) at the College of Medicine of South Africa. By September, Dr Makhaye started working at Addington Hospital as the Grade 2 Medical Officer in the ENT Department, where she also had duties as a consultant.
As an Otolaryngologist, Dr Makhaye works closely with many other medical specialists such as neurosurgeons and ophthalmologists. Her interests lie in patients who experience vertigo and sleep apnoea and conditions such as tinnitus, sinusitis, and laryngitis.
Dr Makhaye takes pride in providing the highest level of care currently available, based on local and international standards. She believes in treating her patients in a family orientated environment where everyone's needs are addressed.
